Star Date "Week 11" Under Heavy Attack

"There is a crack in everything God has made."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Earth Date 2-04-2010 at 0757 hours:

Captain Runner of the USS Bostontrainer. Communications and propulsion have been off line since Earth Date 02-01-2010. On Earth Date 02-01-2010 the USS “Bostontrainer” was overrun by an alien substance that rendered all communications and movement of the vessel inoperative from its current mission.

"Marathon training the ultimate high. These are the journey’s of the USS Bostontrainer. Its 16 week program: To explore new routes; To seek out new speed and fast running partners; To finally cross the finish line in a time that has not been accomplished before."

The USS Bostontrainer had been visiting the JC-LTF quadrant on Earth Day 1-31-2010 after a training session and came in direct contact with a creature from the planet of Coveryourmouth. After rounding orbit from JC-LTF the creature’s ship emitted a bellowing vapor trail from its frontal intake valve. This vapor covered the front of the USS Bostontrainer hull with a particle waste undetected by the vessels sensors.

On Earth Date 02-02-2010 the malignant vapor had found a minor crack in the hull and penetrate the solid exterior structure into the inner confines of the USS Bostontrainer. Within 24 hours, the vapors incubated within the solid structure of the USS Bostontrainer and disrupted the inner workings overheating the “drive core” and rendering the vessel inoperative.

The vessel’s drive core was taken off line as the internal processes continued to overheated by the foreign matter that was overwhelming in its attempts to manifest within the vessel. With the USS Bostontrainer’s drive core inoperable, the vessel was left a drift in the Sealy Zone for over 36 hours.

As captain of this vessel, it was my sworn duty to protect the confines by any means available. A distress signal was sent out to an ally who was close to this quadrant and was familiar with the USS Bostontrainer, the Sarahwife. The Sarahwife was dispatched to the USS Bostontrainer’s coordinates to support and supply much needed fuel and supplies to the distressed vessel.

The Sarahwife continued to lend support from the outside as my crew continued to work around the clock to expel the vapor intruders from reaching the core and making the vessel inoperative for a longer stay within the Sealy Zone.

Inside the USS Bostontrainer the crew was in a fierce battle with the Coveryourmouth vapors. My First Officer, IgM was leading the frontal attack on the vapor and was taken heavy causalities. The vessel was sustaining large damage as the forces continued to fight the intruders. The “drive core” continued to overheat during the fighting. Gallons of Plasma Lemon & Lime where convoyed in by the Sarahwife to cool the “drive core”. Rations were also supplied to keep the troops energized during the battle. A smaller vessel from the home world, the USS Elliemonkey, brought a secret weapon of “Upsideadown Jellycake” to build more strength in the troops. The Graciegrace lending recon assistance for additional supplies. During the support from the allies the Head of Security, IgG assisted IgM in the battle by applying counter attacks through the vessels corridors on the vapor menace.

The fight continued into the early mornings of Earth Date 02-03-2010. Continual supplies of Plasma Lemon & Lime along with rations were sent in. The last line of defense was the IgD troops who were deployed into the bowels of the vessel to lend a final aggressive attack on the vermin vapors.

By 1500 hours on Earth Date 02-03-2010, the Coveryourmouth vapors had all been destroyed. The USS Bostontrainer was able to move under minimal power after taking heavy damage. The USS Bostontrainer was able to moved out of the Sealy Zone and made a slow but steady route to the Kitchen Sector. In the Kitchen sector, the USS Bostontrainer was refueled and started repairs.

Through the rest of Earth Date 02-03-2010, the USS Bostontrainer continued to repair the damage brought on by the Coveryourmouth vapors that had unwelcomingly violated the solid exterior hull of the vessel. Additional support was brought in by the IgA team to assist in protection and removal of the harmful foe.

The vicious attack on the USS Bostontrainer has rendered the vessel a temporary setback to its mission. The current schedule cannot be kept and the vessel is now behind on its current goals and objectives.

Rest continued the remainder of the day while the USS Bostontrainer continued to receive repairs in the internal hull.

After a few repairs and refueling of the “drive core” the USS Bostontrainer was taken out for a ride to test the performance of the vessel after the brutal attack 3 days prior.

At 0515 hours on Earth Date 02-04-2010, the USS Bostontrainer called all hands to their stations. The USS Bostontrainer was preparing for a short test of its propulsion engines enabling the captain to make a decision on the voyage to Wondertwinland on Earth Date 02-05-2010 it had scheduled.

At 0540 hours the USS Bostontrainer was prepped and charged in the Hamsterwheel Nebula for a short 5 light year travel run. Out of the repair docks the USS Bostontrainer was at impulse power of 8 lightminutes per pacemile. After the first pacemile, the vessels drive core was activated and was increased to 7:34 lightminutes per pacemile. The lightminutes increased over the next couple miles ending the short voyage at a 6:49 lightminute pacemile. The total voyage for the repairing USS Bostontrainer was 5 light years for a total of 37:37 lightminutes.

The next voyage is scheduled for tomorrow at 0530 hours on Earth Date 02-05-2010 to travel to the planet Wondertwinland to perform training maneuvers with the two head JayBob. This creature is very competitive in training maneuvers but continues to need consultation on maintaining a constant lightminute.

As captain of the USS Bostontrainer I am eternally grateful for the continued support of the Sarahwife, Elliemonkey and Graciegrace during this time of conflict.

Captain Runner out.
